Show yourself some love
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving {if you're in the US like me} last week! I spent the week gathering and cleaning and spending time with my family, which is what I am most thankful for.
As the weather has started cooling down and the skies have been more gray, I have found myself slowing down and going into somewhat of a hibernation mode....which happens to me at this time each year. It gets quite frustrating as I end up not painting as much as usual, which is not good...when I go too long without creating, I can get quite cranky. lol!
So I decided to post about this on Facebook to get some advice.....and oddly enough someone suggested using a light therapy lamp and diffusing mood lifting/immune system boosting essential oils in my home during the day, which I actually did last year, but had completely forgotten about with all that's going on for us at the moment.
Funny how in the daily scheme of things that self-care always gets put on the back burner....then we end up running on empty. We are so busy showing others how much we love them by what we do for them, that we forget to show ourselves love....you need to take care of YOU! It's not selfish.....it's necessary! Make time for the things that refuel, refresh, and revive you. It's SO worth it!
“It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary.”
Today I pulled out my "HappyLight" {seriously, that's what it's actually called} and put a few drops of peppermint oil on my painting shirt so I could smell it as I went about working and I felt SO much more awake and energized today.
The painting pictured above is one I haven't worked on since the beginning of August....I pulled it out on Monday and dove back in. It feels quite bold and brave.....
like it's pushing me forward somehow.....
and I'm breaking out+growing at an accelerated rate. May be a game changing piece for me. I'm excited to see where it leads me.
Remember this painting above from my video two weeks ago? I still haven't added anything to it yet.....though after working on that other painting on Monday, I know exactly what this one needs to be done now. Sometimes one painting informs another....that's why I like having multiple pieces going at once.
I've got many paintings of various sizes {from 5"x5" up to 24"x24"} finished so I'll be making them available in a couple of weeks....be on the lookout for an email from me about that in the next week or so.
Lots of love and many blessings to you,
Paulette
P.S.
As always, I would absolutely love to hear from you! You can just hit reply on this email or leave me a comment here.
