Beautiful art that resonates in the soul

Contemporary Abstract Painter Paulette Insall's paintings come from her heart....expressing emotion as a visual language, using pure color and expressive marks to connect and communicate. Her abstract art emits a special light and magic that is both spiritual and moving.

New painting...a few process pics

I'm creating a new body of work for an upcoming exhibition of my art this summer (more details on that very soon) and most of them will be larger paintings. Here's the first one I've gotten started... 20130423-160803.jpg Do you see the horses? 20130423-160828.jpg 20130423-160842.jpg 20130423-160904.jpg I started see bird shapes to the left of her, so I drew them in...then painted them. :) 20130423-160924.jpg

Thanks SO much for your support of my art! Your encouragement and kind words help keep me motivated to create! I appreciate each and every one!!! xoxo

New series in progress...flowers & butterflies

New flower series almost complete...just need to add words.

Hope y'all are having a great week so far. The kiddo is having standardized test at school this week, so that means no homework. Yea! I don't know who's more excited about that....him or me! Lol! So tonight we're headed to the movies for $5 Tuesdays! Woo hoo! Hope you have time for something fun in your day! xoxo

In the studio this week...sneak peek

I'm off to the studio after I make this really quick post, but I wanted to give y'all a sneak peek at what I've been working on in the studio this week. Thanks so much for stopping by to see what little 'ol me has been up to. Happy Friday y'all!!! <3

Sketching girls + their lovies

20130201-125932.jpg Something I've been exploring through my sketching lately is stuffed animals...which I had quite the collection of as a girl. What did you/do you collect? What would you like to see me draw/paint next?

There's no school today and I woke up with a runny nose (seems I'm not going to avoid coming down with what the kiddo has), so we are taking it easy here today and staying home. Might venture out to the library later if I'm feeling up to it. I have a whole bunch of books on hold about watercolor technique, so I REALLY want to go pick those up. Watercolor is much different than acrylic paint and I find myself wanting to learn more about working with it. I love the feel of my sketches and want to preserve that more and I think watercolor will do that...and I have pan watercolor/gouache here at home just begging to be used more regularly. :)

Have a lovely weekend and I'll see y'all back here next week, ok? Ok! xoxo

Watercolor play!!!

20130130-143437.jpg
20130130-153542.jpg Aiden is still home sick from school today (day three) and I'm starting to have painting withdrawals since I haven't been able to go to my studio since last week. The only paint I have left here at home is my watercolors, so I'm taking being stuck here at home as a sign that it's time to start exploring working with them (which I've been wanting to do any way, but haven't taken the time).

I'm using one of the barely used journals I have (I keep trying to do the "art journaling" thing, but it just never seems to gel for me....I'm more of a sketcher when it comes to journaling). It has heavy weight double sized paper that works for wet media, so I was hoping it would work for this little experiment...and it did! Can't wait to try this on the couple of pieces of watercolor paper I found this morning that missed getting moved to the studio. :)

I've also been brainstorming ideas for my next paintings as well as what my next painting class will be at my studio (in Portland, OR). I'm planning it for the evening of March 8th (which is a Friday) and I'm going to teach an abstract background with a whimsical tree for this next one. What do y'all think?
