An afternoon treat

photo.jpg

My little guy....wait...correction, "big boy" :D, woke up with a sore throat this morning. After much convincing that he still could go to school (I called them just to make sure), he finally decided to get dressed and go. So after school, I took him out for a little treat...thought the ice cream might make his throat feel a little better....or at least make Momma feel better. ;) :D

I did play a little in the studio yesterday and today, but don't have any time to upload and post those pics right now. I need to go see if I can get Aiden to rest so he'll feel better tomorrow. Making that kid rest is like pullin' teeth, lemme tell ya! He's constantly on the go...even when he's sick!!!

Have a good evenin' y'all! xoxoxo

Play time in the studio

IMG_3475Ahhh it feels sooooo good to have paint on my hands again!!!! :D A sweet artist friend of mine has been busy making ACEOs and it inspired me to pull out the linen canvas ACEO cards I just bought and play with some new techniques for a brand new class.....yep, ya heard me right. ;) I'm brainstorming for some new classes. One of which I'm close to announcing on my mailing list and the other I'm just in the planning stages of right now.

The first one will be a inspiration art journal class focused on helping you find your "style". The one I'm playing with in the studio right now.....well it has to do with creating backgrounds and it's a IMG_3477 technique class, so it'll just be all art play and fun with no pressure to have a polished finished piece!!! Just me filling your head with tons of techniques and lettin' the paint fly! LOL! :D

Aiden had a great day on his first day of kindergarten yesterday! Thanks so much y'all for all your sweet comments and well wishes! He was so excited to go back today....although I did have a bit of a problem getting him going this morning, so I guess the excitement has died down a bit. ;) But he really seems to love it, so I hope he'll flourish there.

Below is a pic of him after leaving his classroom. He was full of smiles! Then I had brought him a special snack to have in the car on the way home. I think he shared a bit of it with his best friend Simon (the bear in the background)....he's such a good sharer. :)

And much to my surprise, I had two deer cross the road in front of me as I pulled out of our subdivision to go pick up Aiden yesterday. Thankfully there was no one behind me and I had my camera with me. It's a IMG_3462 blurry shot, but it's the first one I've managed to get of the beautiful deer we share the area with.

I'd better get back to work in the studio....gosh it's lunchtime already!!!! Man, time sure does fly! Oh and speaking of my classes, my "Organic Dimensions" backgrounds/collage class starts in just over a week (Sept. 15th), so you still have just over a week to sign up for the last time I'll be offering this class in 2008.

1st day of kindergarten...my little man's growing up

Aiden1stdayk2I can hardly believe that this day is already here....Aiden started kindergarten today!!! He was so excited....he actually got up out of bed almost immediately when I went in to wake him. Then he went straight in to have his bath....which never happens! He's usually so hard to get going in the morning.....but today was different. He was starting "big kid" school today.

Before leaving, he kept saying how he was so happy it was September because that meant he got to go back to school. Awwwwwwww :) That made me both happy and sad at the same time.....happy that he's so excited about this new chapter in his life, but sad that he'll be away from home Aiden1stdayk1 most of the day now during the week. Hard to believe that he's already five....seems just like a few months ago he was two. *sigh*

It's so strange with the house being so quiet. I've gotten used to the TV running in the background playing Noggin or Nick Jr. in the mornings while he sang along with the songs or participated in what ever was going on with the show....now there's total silence.

Aiden1stdayk4 It's new chapter in my life as well.....one where I get time to myself on a regular basis. Feels unnatural at the moment in all honesty....but kinda nice at the same time. I'm sure I'll get used to it...especially once I get back to painting...something I've barely done in the last three months. Although today needs to be spent cleaning....something else that has fallen by the wayside for many, many months now.

Well I'd better get movin'....I haven't even managed a shower yet. LOL! And I'm gonna leave y'all with the pic Aiden took all by himself this morning. He was trying to take a picture of himself like Momma does and this was the result. Too cute!!! (You can see a bit of my studio in the background). Hope all you mommas out there with little ones starting school (or that have already started) are hanging in there. Even with getting this time back, it's hard to let them go.

Have a blessed day!!! xoxo

My little sunshine

Aidensunpaint

We went to to festival in a nearby town with my mother-in-law this weekend and Aiden had lots of fun. He even got his face painted, which for him is big since he never seems to sit still these days for longer than a few seconds. When we were leaving, he kept saying we needed to go on another big trip. We were all pooped (it was almost 100 degrees out that day) and I had to explain to him that we weren't doing more than one big trip per day. He didn't like that too much, but he begrudgingly accepted it. LOL!

Oh and I've been tagged and nominated for several bloggy awards, but I'll have to save that for another day. Lots to do today, so I'd better hop to it. Happy Tuesday y'all! xo
